My sister stile jewelry that was worth 5k and she tried to get it back and make it right but it was too late. The girl she took it from is pressing charges. She has never been in trouble, how bad will her sentence be?

What country and state was this... is she an adult or minor?

Even if it had all be given back, the owner could have still reported the crime, ( the DA presses the charges, not the person)

Next 5000 dollars in theft is a major felony, often in court a women will get a lessor sentence in prison than a man will.

My guess ( and all it can be is a guess) each area, state, nation, and even area in a state, can make a difference. So my guess is that she will get 6 months to one year in prison ( or jail) and about 5 years probation
