Realtor attempting to collect rent on foreclosed property without proof
I live in a 5 unit apartment building. The landlord was foreclosed on last year. We were notified via mail that a court order was given to a lawyer to take over as property manager. He did so for 4 months. He notified one of the tenants, and not the other 4, that he was no longer in charge and someone else would be taking over. That did not happen the last 3 months. Friday the realty company went under contract for it to be sold. Now the realty company is telling us we have to give them the last 3 months rent. The bank (which owns building until sold) has never once contacted us. Do not trust realty company. Do we just hold our rent until it's sold to protect ourselves? Was told realty companies don't collect rent that the bank should inform us what to do.

The original landlord is owed rent up until the day it was forclosed upon... past that date the bank or its representative is who should have been paid the rent since. There is no rent free period in such a case.

I would go to the bank in guestion if they have a branch local to you. At least call them if they don't... and the very least follow it up by sending them everything in writing. And I would have each of the other tenents do the same thing. Known as Cover your butt.
