My cold air return register is in a very inconvenient place and produces a lot of noise for the living room. Is there a way it can be moved? Also, I have been told that my unit is too small for my home (single mother here) and it needs to be replaced. Do you replace the entire system, the stuff outside, or the stuff in the attic. My home is 12 years old and has a square footage of about 1250.

Moving that cold air return is in most cases a major job that will in all likelihood include a LOT of other work to make it possible... IF its even possible.
