I know that Elavil is an anti-depressant drug, but am curious if it is used for problems other than depression. I have a friend who suffered for years from debilitating vertigo. After trying a number of medications, one at a time, her doctor decided to try Elavil 25MG. After a week on this drug, her vertigo disappeared and hasn't returned in four years. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this solution?

Yes,it in smaller doses from 25mg to around 200 mg it can be used for insomnia, and vertigo .I have MS and it was prescribed for me for both of those uses. However it did not work for me for either but I have2 acquaintances that use it for the same reasons and have had great success. Hope that helps.
