If I jave a warrant in New Jersey for a domestic violense charge and I'm now staying in South Carolina if I get pulled over by the police can I get arrested and sent back to New Jersey
Can you, of course,
What will happen for sure, they will run your name and the warrant will show up, they will then handcuff you and put you in the back of their call while they wait for NJ to tell them if they will pay for transporting you back.
If they say NO, then you are released and sent on your way ( after about 30 min to 1 hour)
If the police are real busy, some times they take you to the station to wait for a answer.
If they want to transport, then you are taken to the jail, you will have a right to a hearing or you can waive that right and just go back without it. ** they will take you anyway after the hearing, but you have the right to one..
We had one poor guy, we stopped and detained about 4 times over the period of about 6 months because we were required anytime we had to stop him to detain and request the other state to tell us.
