Hi. Last year my girlfriend and I rented a place together and have been splitting rent. In October, I paid a $750 pet deposit because we were thinking about getting a dog. In January, I bought her one and everything was going well until we broke up last month. I moved out but am still on the lease for one more month, she is renewing the lease. I called up the landlord to find out when I should get my pet deposit back and she said that since the dog was staying, the deposit just rolls over. I explained that I paid it all and that I am not renewing the lease. Am I entitled to the deposit since "my" lease is ending next month? I assume I get it back since it's not tied to a specific animal, it's just a PET deposit, and,my ex will have to pay her own deposit for the new lease...
