Info on how to locate biological parents
    Hello all,

I really need some assistance on locating my biological mother and father. I have no clue as to where to begin with my research, because I have no knowledge of my biological parents names. I've been trying to locate the both of them for years now. And I always come to a dead end. So any advice and information to help me along with this search, would be greatly appreciated.

You can ask your adoptive parents if they have knowledge. You can ask them which agency they used when they adopted you. That agency would have the information. Now to get that information is not easy. The agency may require a fee from you. They may also tell you that they need to contact your biological parents for their permission to be contacted by you. Just as they would need to have your permission to be contacted by them. It is a safeguard for protection on both sides.

A copy of your birth certificate would tell you where you were born, but the original birth certificate is most likely a sealed record in the Department of Vital Statistics in the state where you were born.

Sometimes you just might run into an angel who can help you. There are adoptee boards on the net where you can post information and questions. You never know who reads those and what can happen. There are organizations that say they can find the birth parents. I do not know if they are bona fide.

I would start with the adoption agency. They do have the information. At least the names and where they did live at the time. It does not cost anything to call or write and ask for assistance. It just may cost you to pursue what you want.

    Good luck.

How would I go about finding out the agency in which I was adopted through if you no longer talking to the adoptive parent.. who I have spoken to in years...

Do you have a copy of your birth certificate? Do you know where, exactly, you were born? That's where I would start, getting a copy of your birth certificate.

And I would ask why are you no longer talking to your parents, Perhaps there are so old woulds that need to be healed there?

I would start with getting your non identification papers. You should be able to call the agency you were adopted through to get them. If you Google your "how do I get my non id info in (your state entered here)" you should be able to find out who to go through to get them. A lot of times you can find helpful information that can further your search. Hope this helps.

Hi, check Colorado laws. They have opened certain years for people. Adoptees can sign up with the state. Also request their original birth cert. depending on the year you were born.

This thread is THREE YEARS OLD.

Several of those search/reunion sites are also posted in a sticky at the top of the adoption boards.

Please watch dates when responding to questions.
