So I have a graduation concert today and we were trying to find out where the gymnasium is. So I found in what building it is and remembered that I have been there before but wasn't sure where in the building.

So she said, "well on the upper floor there is a exercise gym and a squash court, so i'm sure that there should be a gymnasium there to." I said, "well of course there is a gymnasium otherwise they wouldn't be sending us there."

Then she started yelling a whole bunch of bull at me. And this is every time she says something like that and I respond the same way. I get enough of that from my sister saying the obvious all the time but when my mom say it, it just sounds stupid.

What should I do? I just want to move out and live somewhere else but can't. I love her a lot but this needs to stop!

You really think moving anyplace else is going to change anything? You are going to be dealing with this the rest of your life.

My advice is suck it up and show some maturity... get cocky with a boss that's having a bad day and you will find yourself fired in an instant. DO it with a cop and find yourself in jail... do it to a judge find yourself in jail for even longer, do it to a landlord and find yourself looking for a new place to live soon. Do that to someone with nothing to lose... and people hear about what happened to you on the evening news.

No matter how tough you think you are... you are ALWAYS going to find someone tougher and more stubborn out there... and some of them don't value human life.

This is my mother not my boss or a judge or a landlord or a cop. I don't think I'm tough and whatever you said I'm just looking for options on how to deal with my mother or help her understand that stupidity just pisses me off when I know she is smart, and you don't know what else is going on in my life, especially with my dad, and I prefer not to talk about.

Your responsibility was to find out exactly where you are supposed to go. This has nothing to do with how smart or stupid your mother is, but how well you organize your life and duties. Is there a fellow orchestra/band member you can call, someone who will know where you are to meet?

Your mom IS your boss... better get that through your head, because you are going to need her support when you find out what the real world is like... and the day you turn 18 your parents very much CAN throw you out to the curb and send you on your merry way...

One thing you AREN'T as long gas you live in their house... and that's the Boss. Your Mom AND dad are the boss of everyone that resides in THEIR house... yes... thats right.. its not your house... its their house.

And I fully expect if you keep up that attitude with them that's exactly what will happen.

They legally don't have to support you, or house you the day you turn 18. Doesn't matter if you have a job or anyplace to go... and a lot of parents do exactly that to kids that can't show respect to their superiors... and also... best get used to it... you are going to be answering to people who are your boss the rest of your life. There are very few people that walk this earth don't... Kim Jong IL, and a few others... but that list keeps getting shorter all the time.

Understand the meaning of the phrase... "Charity begins at home". Or "People who live in glass houses , should not throw stones...", Understand what was wrong with what you wrote in your last response and you might find what you perceive as a problem... stops being one.

Because I guarantee you, you aren't the smartest person on the planet... much less your street, or even house. The sooner you come to terms with that... the fewer hard lessons you are going to have to learn in the near future.

That's not being mean... that's trying to be helpful. From someone who had to learn a lot of things the hard way himself growing up.
