    Aflac reveals information
I just signed up with aflac and to my surprise, I received my explanations of coverages very quickly. I also received someone else's social security number, another persons drivers license number, an annual gross income, a different birthdate etc... I believe this to be a major violation of privacy! As I do not know who has all of my info? The rep has been with aflac for years. Anyone have any suggestions, as to what I should do? My boss is stating that everything will be taken care of, she says that a lot and with no results. I need someone to steer me in the right direction? Please and Thank You

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can lead to confusion. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Have you talked to the rep? Did they offer any plan? I would ask that they pay for a credit monitoring service for at least a year and an assurance that this was not a systematic error. That's really the most you can expect.

If you want to file a complain at hipaa.org. If HIPAA investigates and finds a systematic problem they will fine AFLAC (which, of course could cause your premiums to rise).

First how did you get this info, did the AFLAC rep had it to you, did the boss at work hand it to you, or did it come in the mail.

I will say, AFLAC is one of the largest companies in their industry and have no record of problems or issues like this.

It is a problem if your information got out. Was the info from another person where you work, did perhaps, he get names and other info on the wrong lines ( that would be a Rep falut)

Have you discussed this with the AFLAC home office and what have they offered to do.
Normally they will pay for one or two years of a credit monitoring service.

This is of course not normal for them and I would trust them with my information any day.
