Hello, I would appreciate if some one can answer this please. I am in escrow at the moment with buying my mothers landlords property. But he is still asking my mother for rent when the escrow deadline is in 8 days. Now I know technically my mother should pay the rent but there are other factors. The lease is month to month, he hasn't been paying none of the hoa fees for many months, many items in the house is not up to date and he refuses to refund her of her deposit. Big thing is he threatens that he will not sell the house to me because my mother owes him rent. What can I do?

Pay the rent... you don't own it until the day it goes to close, and you will owe a prorated amount up until that date. And if you don't you are in breach of lease.
