Ask Me Help Desk - Could I be pregnant?

Hi Everyone, I am new to this, both using these blogs and anything related to pregnancy! But I need some help. I am presently on birth control, Loestrin 24 fe, and just a few days ago noticed that I ovulated, which is strange to me because this birth control prevents ovulation and this is the first time in one year of using it that it has happened. Anyway, I know I definitely ovulated and on this day, my husband and I had sex. A few days later, about 2-3 days, I began experiencing little stabbing pains in my side, which only lasted one day. I am wondering if that was implantation? This is all very new to me and if I could be pregnant, also very odd as I am on BC. I know that some woman get pregnant on BC and maybe I am one of them? Anyone else have this happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks:)

First off... you don't know for certain you ovulated that day unless you are doing a daily basal temprature chart. And on birth control you won't be doing one.

Second... no form of birth control is 100% effective. Not even using three different forms at once correctly. We have several experts and mods here that can prove that is true.

Thanks Smoothy. I already know both of those things. My question is whether what I felt could be implantation? And any info on that. As in, could it happen that shortly after ovulation? And yes, a temperature measurement would be more accurate but I am 26 and been having my period for 13 years so I think my feeling of ovulation is probably pretty accurate too (ie ovulation type cramping, white egg like discharge etc)

We have some nurses that will argue that what you think is happening isn't in most cases from a woman's perspective. They will likely answer in at some point if they see this.

It really IS that difficult to know when a woman actually ovulates. You really can't tell anything from symptoms and feelings.. (on ovulation OR pregnancy).. or they would be consistent between women, they aren't, and they aren't even consistent between one pregnancy and the next with the same woman.

You are going to have to wait about a month from when you think it might have happened... and take a test.
