My brother is 21 and is so depressed; he completely refuses to talk with anyone about anything, and continues to numb everything with alcohol. He literally just wants to lay in his room and watch his television shows. He even denied a job today; he would rather be a bum at my mom's house. No one can get through to him. He showed up at my place drunk the other night, he even attempted to fight my fiancé. We are all at a loss; my mom wants him out but we all know he has no where to go.

I don't know why this is posted under personal growth but - you can't force an adult to do anything. Your mother has to get tough and throw him out or evict him.

There is no middle road - he's either living with her and creating problems or he's out and finding his own way.
