Hi!
My step-son found a puppy right after it had been clipped by a car, the pup was crying but all right after he was picked-up. We've had him for 3 weeks he's adorable, plays excellent with my other 2 of 3. We just don't know what his mix is. I have read a few comments from others and may have to wait it out for a few months to see but thought if anyone was able to tell, please share

It very well might be part pit I think I don't know maybe I am just seeing things but it looks a little bit like a pit and something else. Don't worry though you got it form a puppy so it will grow up with your kids so if it is a pit it will protect your kids if anything happens.

We did think he maybe part pit, there's no problem with that with us... all our "kids" otherthan my s/son are the 4 legged kind and all mixes. Dante is our newest babie's name , he is very smart and has adopted me as his favorite
My hubby n s/son both love him too. Dante is very loving and so soft with webbed feet!

If he has webbed feet then he might have a bit of lab as well. But I agree with Tory- I think that there is pit in there as well.

Well just wanted to be sure there would be no problem with him being pit you know a lot people hate those dogs.\

Having webbed feet yes you might have some lab in him I know there is a different dog that has that but can't think of it.

It is hard to identify an unknown dog. Harder yet if you aren't sure of the age. Have you talked to the vet? Whatever he is, he needs his shots. Most vets usually assume it hasn't had any.

American Kennel Club - akc.org should have pictures of the different breeds. See if your library has a book of pictures. We once decided a stray we found that looked like a Shepherd mix may have been a full Husky.

Do his ears stand out like that all the time? I once saw a Lab/Shepherd cross with ears like that.

I rarely do this but,. that my dear, is a pit bull. Except for the coloring, he looks exactly as my dog and others I have worked with, did at that age. The ears are back because he is leaning back a bit. Am I right to assume when he is standing or sitting up straight the top of the ears flop over? If so, there is no question in my mind from just seeing the facial shot. And, they do have webbed feet. If you can post a full body pic, it would be easier for me to tell if he is full blooded.

If his ears don't fold over slightly and stick out to the side only, I would hazard a guess without seeing the rest of his body that he is a pit/shepherd mix. But, that face, eyes, muzzle, shape of head,is pure pit. Well, whatever he may be mixed with shepooh, you probably should have a vet check him out and make sure that he doesn't have any hairline fractures from the car accident. He may seem okay now but as he gets older, it can cause some problems, also have the vet test him for heartworm prior to the warmer weather, basically just do an overall health checkup and get him up to date on his shots.

If you need any training or advice, please ask. You want to make sure that you give him the right start in life with his training. Pits LOVE their people and if they are given the proper training, make wonderful companion pets.
