Recently, I had sex for the first time in 4 months. It was a little rough and immediately after I noticed that I was bleeding a lot. It even soaked through the sheets. I went to the bathroom to pee and expelled what I think was a very large blood clot. I have Mirena for birth control, and every time we have sex, I bleed. It didn't start happening until I had the birth control put in, but never has it been this much. My partner is well endowed and I was wondering is it possible that the Mirena could have been mispositioned during sex and that's what caused the bleeding?

Rough sex, esp if a new partner is "larger" than past partners can cause bleeding and some damage ever. Of course yes there could be a issue with Mirena, so I would suggest seeing your doctor to be sure that everything is OK.

Its not a new partner. The same person for 8 years which is why I thought this was strange. I have had the Mirena for 4 1/2 years but this is the first time it was this bad.
