After only four months on a yer lease my roommate up'd and left with no notice or reason. One day before the rent was due to the mamagement company she canceled her rent check I had deposited in my bank. I am now forced to relocate upstairs in a smaller unit. The management company states they have to return the deposit in both our names and I have to sign a new lease to the new apartment.
Does the roommate that broke the lease have a right to the deposit?
