Can my son apply for a social insurance card on line he's 17 yrs old and wants to get a job.

Yes he can apply for a social insurance card, but certain documents must be presented, i.e. birth certificate to prove he is an american citizen. Here is the website that directs you. Seeing as he needs to present documents, don't think it can be done on line.

OP used the phrase "Social Insurance", not "Social Security", which suggests that OP is not in the U.S.

It is from Canada, same concept of the US social security number.

I would assume a 17 year old would have had a number for some time, and you need a replacement card ?
