    Single Control Shower Conversion
Right now there is a cold and hot faucet tub/shower. If I want to convert it to a single control shower, wouldn't I have to alter the water pipes and connections
    Somewhat??

Yes... and in fact even changing from different brands of single control might require changes, including the line to the showerhead. Showers are hard connected (attached direct to the pipes) unlike sink faucets that have flexible hoses or bendible hardlines. At least all the ones I've seen are.
