Ask Me Help Desk - Whirlpool Senseon dryer will not start

I have a Whirlpool Senseon dryer that will not start. None of the led's on the front panel will light up to give me any control over the unit. I have 240vac connected and present at the terminals. I have read through the troubleshooting guide that came with it and after performing a few tests, it appeared as though the control assembly PC board was bad because I cannot get 5 Vdc to pin 3 of connector P3. I have bought and replaced this item and the front panel still does not come on. The keypad seems to be in working order as per the troubleshooting guide. I have read through some other questions here on this Q&A and thougth it could be the thermal switch in back but I cannot figure out how to get the damn back of the thing off. Whirlpool tackwelded the back on. Does anyone have any soulutions?

Ok, I finally opened the dryer up and checked the heater coil, thermistor, thermal cut-off, moisture sensor and visually inspected the motor along with the centrifical mechanical switch and still no luck. I obtained another control board assembly in hopes that the one I received the first time was bad from stock but still no luck. I have jumpered the motor along with the heater to get the dryer running to dry my clothes, using the breaker box as a switch for the time being... really safe... but none the less I cannot get this thing to work. I called whirlpool and they gave me a bunch of crap about calling a service tech out but the last time I called one was for my whirlpool calypso washer and after 3 visits and watching them come out and change pumps and motors over and over I finally had to clue the guy in on how a microprocessor worked and showed him how temperature sensitive they are. They replaced the mainboard and it worked great. I am leary to call out subcontracted repair people to waste my time and money. I have already spent 200 dollars on the control board and for the cost of a repair tech to come out I could have bought a new dryer... preferrably not a whirlpool after my conversation with those non supportive jackasses. Has anyone seen this problem or know how to fix it?

Does this dryer have a touchpad test , this will light up all buttons on touch pad.

Yes, the unit has a touchpad test. It requires you to push the time up and time down buttons twice in a row. i.e. up, down, up, down. Then it should light up all the keys. I cannot even get power to the keypad. There is supposed to be 5 Vdc and a Vss line power to the keypanel but I cannot seem to get this at the connector. I have pinned out the flex cable on the keypad and made sure that the keys are properly functioning when pressed.

I have experienced the identical frustration and am looking for any resolution. I now have 3 control boards with no decent voltage at P3 or P4.

Sorry chuctch525... I still have not fixed mine and I am still using my breaker as an on/off switch. I have two control boards laying on top of the dryer in all their non working glory. I am almost at the point of just buying a keypad to see if it does fix the problem. For all I know, it could be a dual problem... the keyboard and the control board. This is ridiculous. Like I said before, I actually did a continuity check across the keypad buttons to check if they were all functional and they were. Unless the ground line on the keypad is shot, I cannot see anything wrong with it. If I do happen to fix mine, I will post the fix for you.

Thanks, I've already bought a maytag and am scrapping this one. I used a diode checker on my control panel and it appears OK; a pro I talked to on the phone tells me that it has to be the must problem anyway.
