Why don't my boyfriend's parents trust us anymore?
Hi! My name is Cat and I'm 16. I've been dating this guy for over a year now and its been the best. Yeah I know what you're thinking, you're just a kid and you don't know what love is. Although that may be true but I know when something is grand. I have recently just have given my boyfriend a hicky. (No we are not the kind of kids who fool around with each other, we are great kids. We are honors students and do any for volunteer opportunities. We just are moving forward with our relationship.) Well little did I know that the hicky would I guess be a good one because it was so red and his mom saw it. So I emailed his mom for my inappropriate action and she was all like its OK and thank you, blah blah blah... So then I couple days later my boyfriend tells me his parents do not want me to go with him to a concert for his 16th birthday. They feel that our relationship is "failling apart" but actually its fantastic! I don't know how I will ever get their trust back, I honestly think they hate me and my family. I just want to be a 16 year old who has an amazing boyfriend. Please help me. I'm the type of person who has to please everyone and it kills me when I fail.

Just hang out with you boyfriend as much as you like, and talk to him about it. Maybe he will stick up for you guys to his parents, and share what you feel.

First, actually I wasn't thinking you are just a kid. You ask a reasonable question. You write it well. Your question is not about whether you should be with him or not.

Your boyfriend needs to stick up for you. If he wants you at the concert, he needs to tell his parents that. He needs to ask why they don't want you to go with him so you can allay their fears.

I wonder though whether its really them speaking. Did they say something to you or are you only hearing what he said they said?

It may be since the "hickey" that they feel the relationship has started to be more sexual or physical and they are trying to slow it down at this point.
