    Bleeding in the 8th month of pregnancy
    I am 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant with our 5th child I went for my check up yesterday, I started bleeding afterwards I have since stopped bleeding but am now discharging a sticky brown substance and small cramps. I was dialaited to a 2 is this normal or am I in labor?

    If your doctor/midwife did a cervical exam on you to see how far dilated you were, light bleeding and slight cramping is very common. You see the cervix is highly vascular and during pregnancy, when manipulated, tends to bleed. The cramping would be attributed to the cervical exam as well. When the cervix is manipulated it releases a small amount of hormone called oxytocin. This is the hormone that causes labor to begin.

    Now, I'm not saying you are in labor, I'm just saying that your concerns are very common and should be nothing to worry about unless there is bright red period like blood and the cramping resolves completely.
