Hi , I am an Indian national. I got married on 13th Dec 06 , subsequent to which I moved to US on 24th Dec 06'on an H4 visa. Well I wanted clarifications on the following:

1) Can my husband claim for an exemption on " Dependant" taking our marriage and my presence in the US in the year 06' into account while filing the tax returns for that particular calendar year?
2) If yes, what should be a beneficial status... resident alien dependent or non-resident alien dependa nt?
3) How do I go about the above?

1) He cannot claim you as a dependent. You CAN file jointly with him, however.

2) You can only do this as a resident alien.
