Why is cold water clear and hot water brown
I have a problem with the hot water turning brown, while the cold is clear-- as we use various systems to clear the well water from iron and tannin----would using a tankless water system prevent the reaction with heat that turns the hot water brown?

    Hi Kirkfield

How old is the water heater you have now? If the water heater has a few or more years in service AND the rust inhibitor chemicals are all balanced then my guess would be that your ANODE ROD has deteriorated and needs to be replaced... that or the heater is shot as a result of the anode rod deteriorating and that will need to be replaced pretty quick off... ;)

Glad to discuss more if you want, OK?
