I bought a two story home a couple years ago and now due to health issues I am unable to get up and down stairs which is where my bedroom and bathroom are...

I have a two car garage I put up a cheap wall , insulation and paneling... so 2/3 of the garage can be a bedroom for me...

No heat but I am thinking I can cut a hole in the wall and pull heat from the laundry room somehow to get heat and ac in the garage / bedroom??

Also on the other side of the garage door is the laundry room as mention above and to the left of that is a half bath...

I would like to install a shower, toilet sink in the garage bedroom, is this going to be a major job for me or will it be easier having plumbing from laundry room and half bath to tap in to somehow?

I am guessing here...

Any advise you can offer would be helpful. I am just trying to get a bedroom, bathroom, office space in garage and avoid stairs

You wll need a forced air system to get HVAC into the room, it won't just flow by itself, even with a hole in the wall. Maybe a small motel style unit would wrk. Installing a bath is/can be a major task, particularly if you are on a slab. You need to do some concree cutting and find the drains to tap into. Water supply can be run in walls but drains need to go down. Don't think you want a sump pit in the garage. You may be able to use a macerating type toilet if possible. I would suggest you talk to friends who have reputable plumbers and let them give you some ideas and quotes.

In what town are you locatd. Building codes would require several permits and what you have done so far may already be well outside of code.

You would be doing yourself a favor by getting a plumbing contractor to come in and see the feasibility of the project. Nothing like the advice of a professional that can look at the area to make the best determination. Good Luck

Hi MA0641 Thank you for the reply, if I cut the hole in the wall from laundry room to garage, and use duct work to route that vent to garage would that work?

I live in Raeford NC

And all I have done is put up a wall and insulated it and put paneling on both sides of the wall... it was the cheapest fastest way to get that room divided off and insulated

How do I find the codes for what is allowed or not allowed in Raeford NC?
I would also like to put in a window and side door is that legal?

I just emailed a friend that is a plumber, not sure if he does reno's but maybe he will reply and know the best way to go about this...

Or maybe where the washer and dryer are would there be a way to turn the laundry room into a bathroom? And the pantry is on the other side of the laundry room maybe could put the washer and dryer in the pantry and tap into it?

Not all jurisdictions require that. The plumber that she has coming would be able to guide her on that. Don't confuse her.
BTW:A trip to the library would go a long way in learning how to spell properly.

Your bathroom group will rough like this. (see image) I don't think you'll need a ejection system if you can connect to the half bath main. This will be a major project but it is doable. Get three estimates and go with the one you're most comfortable with. Good luck, Tom

Another question please... Would it be easier to install a bathroom where the laundry room is now? and the half bath is on the other side of the laundry room...
Does that count for plumbing already being there?

And on the other side of the laundry room is a pantry and I was sort of thinking could elminate that and put the washer and dryer in that space and use the space where washer are for the bathroom space and wish I could draw you a pic to show you how this is setup

It would be a lot easier, however laundry drain pipes are 2" and you need at least a 3" main. Some codes mandate a 4"

As suggested above, you really should get a plumber in there, or a few different plumbing contractors to see what options you have. You aren't planning on doing this yourself, are you?

Handyman, good advice. One thing though. Ballengerb seems to post these weird misspelled answers now and again, but it isn't actually his typing, it has something to do with the device he is using at the time.
