How do I wire up this light?
Can you help please? I'm trying to fit a light pendant in a 100 year old house. I have posted some pictures here to illustrate the situation.

    http://www.eman.co.uk/lightwiring/

The existing wiring consists of 3 x live wires bundled into one connector, 2 x neutral wires bundled into one connector, a separate 1 x neutral wire and 3 earth wires. (see image)

There is also a pic of the wiring diagram for the pendant. Can you tell me how this should be wired? Help appreciated!

First let me explain we have no UK electricians here, unfortunately.

The diagram is fine, I assume the lamp cable continues onto another light outlet (rose).

If you connect the new light at that location, according to the diagram red from light to L terminal block and black from light to N terminal block.

The photo is great, but I cannot account for the one lone black wire.

I attached the photos you provided into this thread.

    Thanks for the reply!

I have tried wiring it up as you suggested and the light works, but it won't turn off at the switch! I tried swapping the neutral over to the third, single neutral connector and it doesn't work at all.

I'm wondering if the single neutral should be bundled in with the other 2? Seems to make sense - but then I'm not an electrician.

This whole bundle after all, is just 3 x 3cored wires all spliced together at this light point...

    Your thoughts appreciated!

It that were US the third neutral could be a hot of a switch leg. Check colors of wire at switch. Check for voltage between the 2X neutrals and 1x neutral. Check with switch on and with switch off. If you have voltage between 2X neutrals and 1X neutral with switch on and do not have have voltage with switch off, 1X neutral is hot of switch leg. Connect lamp to 2X neutral and 1X neutral.
