Have you ever heard of a premature baby, preterm labor? No, the baby doesn't have to wait until your due date. Premature labor is a risk that can happen with any pregnancy. Your doctor is telling you that you're at a greater risk than most. If you don't follow your doctors advice, you risk giving birth to a very premature baby.

Yes, even if you follow doctors orders you could still go into labor early. But not following the doctors orders will definitely bring things on sooner. Your body is tired. It's stressed. Having 3 babies back to back is not good for you, and your body is showing signs of the stress you've put on it.

The best you can do now is to follow doctors orders. Let your husband care for your other children. You and this baby need to rest for the next 3 months.

It is imperative that you follow your doctors orders. At 28 weeks the fetus is just past the age of viability, which is 24 weeks. At this point in time your baby would not be able to breathe for itself, should it be born now, and would be put on a mechanical ventilator should it survive delivery.

Should it be born this early, should it survive delivery, it would be sent to a NICU where it would live until it is stable enough to go home. This would be about 3 or more months.

You need total and complete bedrest at this time.
