    Remote connection with Windows 7
I live in Oklahoma and my parents live in Florida. I consider myself somewhat computer savvy but am having trouble figuring this one out. My parents are tech challenged to say the least. They often have computer problems, mainly software related, i.e. installing printer software, creating folders, saving photo's etc. Instead of spending countless hours on the phone with them and having to talk them through step by step on how to solve a particular issue, it would be very helpful if I could just remote connect to their computer to assist them. How can I do this? What do I have to do on my end vs. their end. What settings, permissions, etc, have to be done so I can remote connect to their computer.

We are both running PC's with Windows 7 installed.

    Thanks in advance.

Logmeinfree.com is a nice tool. You can set it up so that you can remotely access the computer with a minimal amount of difficulty.

The problem with logmein (which I also use) is that the machine being connected to has be setup for logmein on that computer. So your parents will need to set it up first. Its not difficult, but Team Viewer is easier.

With Team Viewer, they just need to download and install it. When they run it it generates an ID and password that they give to you.
