I had two guinea pigs. One male one female. Both 3 years old. The male died today and we are considering getting another pig to keep the female company. Is this a good idea? Please help!! :(

Sure! Give the fella you still have some company.
Guinea pigs are social animals. So can't hurt, but solo pigs sometimes bond more with their owners. Watch for sow going off feed as typical of mouring, and making more noise to find missing roommate. Encourage to eat with treats such as carrots if issue. If get new friend, suggest young one of same sex. Less likely to fight in getting to know each other. Don't know if your sow is fixed, but young boars can breed as early as 2 weeks! And if she has not littered in past, pelvic bones will fuse after 1 year old making a difficult delivery and possibly fatal. Hope this helpsQuote:
