    Skin lightning
Why is it OK for white people in england able to use sun beds, that can cause skin cancer, and are able to buy creams that really do work and give them a tan. Yet anything that works to lighten dark skin is banned, in england. And why is OK for a white person to say they want to have an all year tan, but if a black person were to say they would like to be lighter, its frowned upon.

    Black n Proud
Its simply a matter of how history played itself out...

That is: if a black person wants to have lighter skin, it comes across that this person is ashamed of his/her skin colour and has accepted european standards of beauty which is "if you're dark you're ugly, if you're fair you're beautiful". This ideology was drilled into black people continuously during slavery, and unfortunately it still persists today. Same thing persists in other dark skinned ethnicities, but it is not as pronounced as with the black diaspora.

On the other hand, when white people want to be dark, it is only taken at the cosmetic level, because there is no tumultuous historical background affiliated with such a desire. Its simply a matter of aesthetic appeal.

That's just my opinion, not to be taken as gospel
