I've heard a lot about the friendzone thing, but then I hear a lot about how most people start as friends before going on a date or ending up in a relationship with each other.

What do you guys think?

I think that it depends on the situation. Usually when you meet someone out, you usually start right away getting to know each other and dating. Sometimes you may be friends with someone but the mutual attraction is there and you take it to the next level. Also, could be depending on how strong the friendship is, you might not want to try and relationship and have it not work out and then lose the friendship. I don't think there is a correct answer for this post. I think it's mostly just matter of opinion.

Being 'friends' and 'friend-zone' is different.

Being friends and going slow IS the righ way to go - dating slowly... to build a long term, meningful relationship.

"friend zone' - is where you want a romatic relationhip and she/he only - DOESN'T ewant one. You're in love... and they say 'we ca nstill be friends'.

Going slow and REALLY getting to know some one is thre way to go. Fast and Furious and you will always crash and burn.

Define Fast and Furious?

Rushing the relationship... having to be with each other all the time... calling all the time... sleeping together way too soon...

I havre a very good friend who learned a painful lesson at age 43!! Met a guy thorugh e-harmony... they were engage and all lovey dovey after 3 months... married after 5... kid on the way... 8 months later... hate each other.

Even 8 months most of the time does not make a relationship. You're just really getting to know someone. First three to 5 months oyur still hiding behind that newness of a relationship.


I mean - think of some of your really good close friends - it takes years to become great friends... yet so many couples rush things - and it just plain insane.
