Im changing out a evaporator coil that had a rusted drain pan. It's a R-22 unit 3.5 ton. I just read the box and it says it's a R410 coil. Can I still use it for the R-22 system. I guess the only difference is it is made to with stand more pressure than R- 22 produces, I can not think of anything else.

As long as the coil is the same size or larger than the original one you should be fine as long as you use the correct type and size of expansion device for the outside unit. Expansion valve or flow rater needs to be for R-22 and sized for the outside unit.

I agree 100% with hvac1000. Many new coils are compatible with 22 or 410 as long as the metering device is taken into consideration.
