Kitchen sink - drain hole size
Remodeling kitchen... Kitchen sink we want has 3-3/4" drain hole, although most sinks appear to have a standard 3-1/2" drain hole. Our garbage disposal documentation doesn't state the drain hole size, although current sink appears to be 3-1/2" drain hole... Garbage disposal is a Badger 1 In-sink-erator, 1/3 hp, Model 1-83.
Do I need to be concerned with matching the drain hole size of the sink & the garbage disposal? Or, are fittings avail. To converge the disparate sizes?

First, you have chosen the cheapest disposer, get at least a badger 5, next, the sink drain holes are fine

I have to agree with Doug, the ISE Badger 5 is the lowest I'll go when budgeting a job.

As for the drain shoe -- The ISE disposal shoe should work just.

How hard do you plan to use the garbage disposal? We don't use ours that much. The cheapy we bought at Wal-Mart about 15 years ago with a plastic housing has now outlasted the original we had to replace because the metal housing corroded away. Those selling and installing things don't have the same interests those buying do.

Are you replacing the garbage disposal, or just reusing the old one?

Since we already have the Badger 1 garbage disposal, we'll keep it until it konks out. Appreciate the reply... Thanks...

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to make sure the different size drain hole in the new sink wouldn't be a problem. Since we already have the Badger 1 garbage disposal, we'll keep it until it konks out. Appreciate it!

'Those selling and installing things' have a vested interest in making sure the product will hold up and last under normal usage, Labman.

You *DO* realize we have to warranty our work, right?

As long as you don't have too much fun, of course.

Lest someone come along and delete your response if it pokes too much fun at the local Dog Catcher.

There is no rhyme or reason to it, Doug, but post count counts -- And the most quick way to see your posts deleted is to disagree with someone with a higher post count than yours.

Even if the 'Dog Catcher' in question has never Plumbed a day in his life.

    Go figger.
