My 11 year old is doing this as well, she tells everyone she cuts herself and WANTS to be considered "Emo"... she even took my razor out of my foot scraper, and hid it in her room, but made it very obvious, since it was all taken apart on the bathroom sink. She tells everyone she cuts herself, but for no reason. She gets everything she wants, has a cell phone, a Wii, an Ipad and a 32" flat screen TV. I give her everything I can and try to do things with her as much as possible. She has started sneaking out. Im taking her to counseling but it isn't helping, Im starting to think she has a mental disorder... or she's just extremely spoiled and immature.

I think it's time for tough love. Why are you blessing her with all this "stuff"?

Im sorry but it doesn't seem to me like you care all that much.

She needs help. It doesn't matter how much someone has. Rich kids with everything, and Poor kids with nothing. It makes no difference.

She needs your help, love and support. Not your judgements of what you 'think' is going on, and your 'she is just spoiled' response.

You give her everything you can, list the "stuff" and wonder if she has a mental disorder. She does - it's called greed.

I agree, first she is actually cutting ? You keep saying she is telling everyone she does ? So is she, or is she just telling every one ?

Next start taking all of that "stuff" away, No TV, no Ipod, no wii no nothing, then tell her she can have them back when she starts obeying and listening.

Emo is not cutting, cutting is a emotional issue where they don't know how to express anger or pain or deal with life just being hard sometimes. A girl at school makes fun of them, so they cut, instead of getting used to life being hard.

In her case it sounds like she is trying to act like a certain person she knows, OR, she wants more attention from you, ( not stuff) and is not getting it.
