Can I get a job as a Medical Assistant if I can an assault arrest on my record?
I just turned 18 and my brother and I got into a little fight and my mother dearest called the cops on me... I went to jail for 2 days for assault on a minor and property damage, which was a cheap chain I broke. I was released and all charges was dismissed by court but I cannot get this off my record in the State of Arizona. So its on my public record for life even though I wasn't convicted. Is this going to stop me from getting a Medical Assistant job?

Are Medical Assistants in AZ licensed or bonded?

And, yes, this is on your record.

Why did "Mother dearest" call the Police if it was just a "little fight" and why were you charged? If it was dismissed the charge shouldn't matter. If you received probation or restituion, it will matter.

I assume you are out on your own and away from "mother dearest"?

I live in California now, but it happened in Arizona, both states Medical Assistants get a certification. Till this day I don't know why my mom called the cops, we still keep in contact and communicate, my brother and I always got into it as siblings but I don't know why this time it was different. I am curious about being in the medical field and having this on my record because I went to an RN information session and they went over what you couldn't have on your record, even though it is dismissed and never was convicted, its an arrest of violence. When I lived in Arizona regular companies like photography shops turned me down because of what they seen on my background check

That is probably going to be the case where licensing is involved. Even expunged (if you qualify) that will be a problem. I don't understand, though, why a DISMISSED charge is problematical. You could charge me with assault, for example, I could be arrested, charges dismissed for lack of evidence, the arrest doesn't matter.

Although my case has been dismissed It's on my public record, and I have been asked about it several times and I've explained myself. This might affect my chances of getting a job in the medical field. Thank you I will continue to look for work.
