The pilot light stays on but when u turn the knob to light burner it comes on but goes off quick even on hot.is the burner bad or is it something else? Pilot light goes off about every two to three days lately

You can replace the thernocouple easily and for only a few dollars. However, I think your gas valve is a more likley issue.
