We have a small 3 story building with 12 units. And considering requiring 1.28 low flush toilets. The question I have involves the pipes which carry the sewage. If we go to the 1.28 flush toilets could it lead to problems with our pipes being clogged due to lack of water to push through the sewage? Could there be other problems?
Any information you can prodvide would be helpful.

No complaints on the low flushers so far. You're afraid that the water will drop solids as it drains. Right? That's exactly what I was asked when the 1.6 gallon toilets came on the market. I don't think they'll give you cause to worry. Good luck, Tom

I would have to say it will all depend on how old the plumbing is and what the material is (pvc, cast iron). I have installed a few of these with no problem over a period of a couple years. However, an inspector did tell me about a commercial building that they replaced all fixtures with WaterSense toilets and sink faucets (extremely low flow faucets, and low capacity toilets) and within a few months they actually had to hire an extra full time maintanance person almost solely for the purpuse of unplugging/augering drains. The building was old, had cast iron and galvanized drains, and the lack of water to rinse the already somewhat plugged up pipeing, apparently caused a real mess for them. This is the only negative story I have heard about the subject, but one I will always remember.

All the low flushs I have seen, seem to have a prett good flush, so I wouldn't worry too much. Take care.
