I have a 97 Ford F150 4.6 triton v8, my temp gauge is showing or pinging hot but the truck is not running hot, I have replaced the 2 temp sencers (1 to comp, 1 to guage), my radiater is good my thermomitor is good, and to my knowlage the wires look good, what could be the problem here? Please help

The wire may be shorted. If you remove the sender, and have the key on, and is still pegged, the wire IS shorted or you are on the wrong sender.
Remove wire from sender, what do you get?

OK I started truck removed 1 to computer, still pegged, removed both, it dropped, then connected the one to the gauge and still pegged (tryed on each)

So it drops when 1 or both are disconnected.
Check oil light still operates.
Some senders only control the fan, not the gauge.
Where do you stand now?

Both were disconnected when it droped, what I did was diconected 1 at a time while leaveing the opposite connected, yes all my other warning lights work, I believe it is a shorted wire like you said, because some dummy before me had the sencers switched around :), so how would I go about reparing the shorted wire? Is it a fuse thing?

If you remove those 2 senders and the gauge drops, one or both of the senders is bad. Sounds like sender(s).
Check continuity of senders.You mention gauge AND computer? I would only think you should only have 1 sender for that gauge? When at the Auto Store, see if both are the same?
Verify correct senders, if it has been like this, may be the problem, just started, sender?

If you remove wires from senders and the gauge drops, your wire is NOT shorted, and that's good.

Yes there are 2, maybe 1 sender sencer whatever its called is for something else, however they are strait from the dealer, I'll tinker with them a bit more and see what I get maybe it's just my human error somewhere along the line
