I rent an old victorian house - one problem no power (no socket) in the upstairs hall which is a problem for switching in hoover / or running a table lamp, or PC etc.

I am currently using a long extension lead from my bedroom but this can't stay permanent so is a pest having to roll out and plug in etc each time I want to hoover - is there such a device as a wireless socket which I could plug permanently into one of the bedrooms but be placed in the hall?

No, there is no such thing as a wireless receptacle that can provide 120 AC power.

Being a renter, you cannot do any electrical work in the home, you need to have the landlord hire an electrician to install a receptacle.

Wireless electric outlet. This would be cool to have. Just think, anytime u wanted one just slap it on wall and away u go. It would also put a lot of electricians out of work. And a lot of fires and overloads. A great fantasy.

Not impossible, but compared to wiring a conventional outlet, cost prohibitive.

We call them Dust Busters here in the USA.

Electricians do not openly recommend anything battery operated, or "wireless". Goes against our inbred instinct to want to pull wire everywhere.

The Dyson is so much MORE than a simple dust buster ;)
