How to get off hormone replacement: Angelique
My mother is 50, she is wondering how to get off the hormone replacement she is on, it is called Angelique. She did a hysterectomy in 1998 but the ovaries were left in, so she has been taking Angelique since April 2009. I hope to get some feedback, I know going to a doctor is the best choice, but she asked me to try this for her. Thanks

You need to consult with your own medical practitioner as a full history would need to be taken as well as an examination.

What is the reason for her decision to go off, does she feel she no longer needs this? My experience is that it offers no benefits, and the downside is heart disease in women. Perhaps she has been doing some research on her own. After all, by today's standards she is a woman in her prime at 50. She could be getting the same benefits out of herbal supplements.

Thanks for the response, she is going off the medicine because it has so many side effects and at that time she didn't know about those possible side effects. My mother lives in a small country and believe it or not there is no gynecologist in the country and the country near by in south africa she cannot get a hold of the gynecologist. So the question is, how does she stop taking it, can she just stop? Do you know what would happen to her because she does not have a uterus? I think once she stops she intends to take a new treatment.

To be quite frank I do not know what would happen lacking a uterus. You definitely need to consult a doctor and it doesn't have to be gyno. What is the problem with the HRT she is on now?

I think the HTR she is on is giving her some negative side effects. Ok, ill let her know to consult a doctor, thanks though
