Canon Laser Printer 8040cn

When asked to "print", red light flashes indicating paper draw is empty when it isn't

The printer will print manually if fed with paper, so the print job is registered, however, the "priint task" is not registered in the print queue on the computer for some reason.

We've tried changing paper/draw settings to no avail.

Any ideas?
