The cops have been pulling people over when they leave my house to ask them if they bought drugs here & to stay away from here because it's a drug house. It's not. I graduated AP&P back in 2002 & haven't touched them since. I know of this happening on like 5 different occasions. The cops have even asked if they could come in & search my house before for drugs, guns & people. I let them in without a warrant @ 3am when they knocked. Still, they found nothing. Yet they keep telling people this & it's irritating. They have nothing to back this & it's making my family question me as well as others they've stopped. (Also, nobody they've pulled over has had drugs on them either.) Who should I talk to? The neighbor kids can't even play with my kids anymore...

They must have some information from someone that is telling them you have drugs ?

Why would they come to your house at 3 am was there a complaint, was there another issue ?

You hire an attorney and prove this, get copies of police logs showing the traffic stops leaving your house, you get statements from the people being stopped, you get a report from the search of your home. And file a complaint against the departmetn.

Find a Civil Rights Attorney and retain him/her IF it is as you say.

Don't ever do that. They were investigating you as a suspected criminal. Do not help them even if you are innocent! For all you knew, someone planted contraband in your home.

There was another issue when they came at 3am. They were looking for a friend of mine who had been fighting with his wife. She had called & told them he "might" be here & that we sold guns & everything. That was awhile ago though. (Like 3 years) I let them in without them having to obtain a warrant simply because I knew there was nothing to hide. My friend wasn't here, nor drugs and no guns. I will admit that some of the people I know aren't exactly upstanding citizens of the community, but I don't allow anything like that to go on at my house anymore & I'm not one to judge people for their faults when I've had the same ones. The person inside is still a person. I've been there myself... you know? Plus, it's been since 2002 that I've been clean, I would think (or hope) that would mean something. Thank you for your help also, I appreciate another persons view. (For the record, I have nothing but respect for officers & don't want to waste their time either, but things like this make me want to fight them to "make them the example" of abusing authority.") My Dad was an officer, (now deceased) but he was one of the good ones.

I will agree, the police would never step foot inside my home without a warrant, CI ( and you never know who they are, someone is telling the police you are doing something) May put something in your home to find, it happens more often than you know

I never really thought of somebody planting something. I just don't want to make things harder on the officers. I know the things my Dad went through at work, I know these people are out there putting their life on the line for pennies & if I can ease that burden a bit, I will. But I feel slightly targeted by this & I'm sure they have some reason... I just don't know what they are. I know the word around town is that this officer is "above the law". He's an amazing cop, just not so straight laced I guess. Kind of worried about rocking the boat, but don't want to look like an about it.

Initially you seemed to feel more than "slightly targeted" by all of this.

I also would not allow a Police Agency in my house without a warrant - too many people get "planted," sometimes to bring up the numbers, sometimes to prove a point.

You've been vocal here about your concerns and complaint. I would be concerned that "someone" is going to take offense and up the ante.

Trust me, I am upset by this. Even more so since I found out that when my friend got pulled over the other night, his daughter was with him. The cop said to him, in front of his daughter, that this was a drug house & that his daughter shouldn't be here & da da da. His daughter told my daughter what was said & now my daughter is questioning me because I've always taught my kids to trust cops. "So why would a cop say something that's not true?" my daughter asked. I don't even know what to tell her except that sometimes even cops make mistakes & that I'm trying to correct it. I honest to God can't imagine that I would be in a situation where a cop would try to plant anything on me to bring up the numbers. Things like that don't happen to regular people. I'm certain there are enough people in my city that are committing crimes that a cop wouldn't have to make up a case on me. I leave my house to take my kids to school & go to the store for food, that's it. It's such a truly boring life. There is so much more going on without involving me. (But thank you for your suggestions)

I was a police officer, and a Federal Agent, things are planted, not really to "make numbers' but most of it is this, they arrest a "friend" of yours, no one knows, they make a deal with him, that he turns in a dealer and he does not go to jail. so he tells them you are giving him drugs,
** may not be a close friend just someone you knew from the past.
So this old friend comes by to see you or has someone he knows put some drugs under a dresser or bottom of bathroom closet. Latter that day or the next day the cops raid the house and find the drugs.

Also some CI use busts as 'get out of jail free cards" they go around turning in people, they are almost always right, so anytime the officer uses this CI, the judge seldoms questions a search warrant.

Next most people get arrested because they made someone mad, and that person turns them in or sets them up.

I read your reply & can't help but think that my Dad is flipping in his grave. I'm a smart girl, but obviously I needed a reality check. I guess everyone wants to think that their "friends" are loyal to them, but I also know in the "drug world" when you stop hanging out with people as much, their loyalty will be more for themselves. As far as an officer setting up something like this, I wouldn't had believed it had you not told me you were an officer & an Agent. I really still want to believe the best about cops but guess it's time to accept that times change. Not everyone becoming an officer these days is actually doing it for the right reasons. Thank you so much for doing this... helping random people online. I know my Dad would be thanking you too. So, what would you suggest I do about it? Should I worry about retaliation if I were to sue? Would it be worth it? Part of me wants to go to the PD & talk to him about it, I don't know if that would work though. Thank you again.
