    Problem with toilet
The issue is with the water that comes out the holes in the toilet to fill it up after flushing. Water is still coming out of some of the holes after it fills up, not bad, but a constant drizzle. I had a plumber come out and take a look at it and said he said that wasn't a problem, but that he did replace something in the tank (a different issue). I don't know anything about plumbing, but it seems to me, the water shouldn't be coming out all the time. Is this okay? And if not, what can I check to see about it? Any help would be appreciated.

You are certianly correct about that.

Remove tank lid and check the water level in the tank. Water level should be approximately 1 inch below the top of the overflow pipe. If necessary adjust water level.

If water level is at proper level, replace the flush (flapper) valve, it is leaking.

To check this out. Tonight put some food coloring in the toilet tank and let it set overnight. If you see color in the bowl then follow Harolds advice and replace the flapper. Good luck, Tom

I replaced the flapper and it is still doing it. The name brand on the pump is "HushFlo, anti-siphon". It shows arrows to lower and higher. What is that for? There was a knob on it that could be loosened or tightened and I tried both ways and it still doesn't help. When the toilet first flushes and fills, the water does stop about an inch from the top of the overflow. But then I can sit and watch it raise up to the top of the overflow and start running it. Any suggestions?

I don't know how proud you might be of your present ballcock but my bet is if you replace it you're problem will go away.

You didn't do the food color test did you? It's not the flapper that's bad. It's the ballcock, Replace it! Good luck, Tom

I gave up on that type of fill valve about 40 years ago. They look neat, all compact and everything but don't last very long. They work based on the weight of the water above them but appearently the parts rust up and they don't shut off properly. They did that 40 years ago and appearently still do. Google "HushFlo" to see complaints on other forms.

    Replace with a FluidMaster

Leave Hushflo Anti-Siphon Toilet Tank Fill Valve on the shelf. At one time they were great and so easy to install. The first one I purchased around 15 years ago. Probably got around 8 years of service from it. When it went bad, I replaced with the same Hushflo Anti-Siphon Toilet Tank Fill Valve. A month later I heard the water running over into the overflow pipe. Took it off and returned it to the big box store. The salesman handed me a brand new one and I put it on that night (he told me to keep the used one). I got about 5 or 6 days out of the new replacement Hushflo Anti-Siphon Toilet Tank Fill Valve. Because I was just changing out what needed to be replaced (I was not doing a complete change out) I still had the first one from 15 years ago and the two bad ones.

Here's the problem with the "new" Hushflo Anti-Siphon Toilet Tank Fill Valve versus the 15 year old Hushflo Anti-Siphon Toilet Tank Fill Valve. Within that white round piece that has Hushflo stamped on it is a rubber piece that acts as the stopper. The rubber on the first one was a nice grade. On the two newer models, I don't think what they were using would qualify as rubber. The zip-lock freeze bags I use to store vegetables from the garden in are thicker than what Hushflo is using. I could screw the white water regulator screw all the way in and the water would stop running.

The Hushflo Anti-Siphon Toilet Tank Fill Valve are now cheaply made and a total waste of money.

Welcome to AMHD. Please check the date of a post before responding. This one is four years old. Hopefully Amateur Plumber has solved his problem by now.
