    Process for abandonment in Ohio
My sons father has not seen him since May 3rd, 2011 and he has not contacted me since September of 2011. In the past year I have heard from him a total of 4 times. I talked to a lawyer and they said to give it a year and try for abandonment. Well it has been a year and I'm not sure if there is another process I need to follow other than abandonment. I live in Ohio and I'm not married to the father. I also know that he is unable to pass a drug test. Any advice would be great!

So what do you want to do, abandonment is what you will use as a reason for other court action. Do you already have physical and legal custody ? If so, no need toce file for that.
Do you want to reduce or void any existing visitation agreements ? You could, but why since he is not trying to visit anyway, and you can always go back to court if and when he tries
