Why won't my dog eat! :(
I have a dog that is 6 month old and he is really fussy with his food he will like it 1 min and not the next now he won't eat it unless we put in proper chicken but we don't want to keep feeding him human food as he will expect this all the time. It doesn't help the matter as my mum has changed his food about 5 different times and I told her at the time that she should just pick 1 but she always thinks sheis right even though that I am the one studying animal care at college. So if anyone has suffered with the same problem please let me know and how you solved this thanks xxxxxxx:) :)

Yeah, I always had all sorts of trouble making my parents do what I wanted. Your dog seems to be having little trouble making you do what it wants. This is a common problem, common enough it is in the sticky ''My dog won't eat.'' at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post254171

If your dog is a larger breed, over 50 pounds, I would suggest one more switch, to an adult chow. Doing so slows growth allowing more time to develop sturdy joints.

With Dogs its all about conditioning. If you keep feeding him luxuries like chicken he will learn that if he cocks up his wee nose at dog food then he gets some nice treats. So he will continue to not eat dog food. What must be done is the dog must be given dog food, and the same one, as its not healthy for the dog to constantly change it. The dog will eat when its hungry enough and in a short time learn that it is not going to get chicken by not eating dog food and will learn that the dog food is its food and so begin to eat normally. This must be done asap whilst the dog is still young. Keep me posted please? As if the dog refuses to eat the dog food after a couple of days of 'no human food' then it may need to see a vet. P.S what college do you go too? I was going to do a similar course at Brackenhurst. Thank you- Taz

Our dog started to do this and we were serving dry food. Turns out that she just couldn't handle the big pieces. We got smaller pieces of the same stuff, and she loved it!! Also, see if he has some sort of cavity or rotten tooth!

Smaller dogs like JRT's usually don't have the joint problems most larger breeds do. Still, keeping them lean is much better for their health.
