Im 16 years old and I recently lost my virginity to my boyfriend. We were having sex about 2 weeks ago, and the condom broke. But he pulled out as soon as it happened. I have been freaking out ever since, I am not on the pill and I didn't get the morning after pill. My expected period should be on June 7th.. I asked my boyfriend if we could go get a pregnancy test on The 2nd... I'm just afraid that I could be pregnant. I need help...
Pregnancy is possible any time you have sex, even on the pill and using a condom. Since the condom broke, there's a higher chance of pregnancy, even if he did pull out. There's plenty of sperm in precum to get the job done.
Sadly, there's no way we can help you. You'll have to wait until your period is due. If you miss it, try a pregnancy test using first morning urine, or go to your doctor for a blood test. Keep in mind that most women don't get an accurate result early in pregnancy.
Right now there's nothing you can do other than wait, hope, and pray. But, if you continue to have sex, even protected, pregnancy is possible. If you're not ready to be a mother, then you're not ready to have sex.

The 2nd is too soon. You need to wait until after you miss your period, usually about 2 weeks after.
While I hope you are not pregnant, I also hope this scare makes you wake up. No one should engage in sexual intercourse unless they are prepared to have a child. Any time you have penile insertion, there is the risk of pregnancy.
Yes first wait too see if you get your period on the 7th, if you don't, wait till at least the 14th to take the test. The 2nd is too early.

Also when you do the pregnancy test do it with the first urine of the morning for best results.
Also why did you not get the "morning after pill" if you were afraid of pregnancy.
You can test once your period is a day or so late (assuming your cycle is fairly regular) Its usually not necessary to wait a week or more after you're late.
However, if you are late when you test and get a negative result, that is when you would need to wait another week or two to test again. Periods can be delayed for several reasons - including stress.
I just recently researched this to answer another question. The accuracy rate of HPTs increases radically from the date that you miss your period. During the first few days accuracy rates are under 50%. During the first week it doesn't reach 75%. When you get about the 10th day it gets into the 90s. After 2 weeks its over 95%.Quote:

Scott, although I do agree that most women should wait, I have to say, I tested when I was 4 days late with my first two pregnancies, and at 2 days late with my last, and got an accurate reading. I have since found out that I'm not the norm, that most women don't get an accurate reading until further into the pregnancy, 2 or more weeks after a missed period. But, accurate results have happened before that 2 week window.

Alty, not disputing that As I said the percentage of accurate results in the first few days is under 50% but its not 0. So that means that some woman do get an accurate result. But the problem there is how do you know you are in the accurate group. Until you get confirmation from an ultrasound or other means, you could get a positive result and not be pregnant.
This is why I responded to the previous poster. Encouraging a female to test early could be setting themselves for disappointment, or worse, they could think they aren't pregnant and do something (like drink to excess) that could harm the fetus. Is it worth the risk for a few days?
It isn't worth the risk at all, which is why I agree with you. I simply wanted to point out that for some women, testing early is accurate. I also know that you didn't say that no one should test before they're 2 weeks late.
The thing is, if the OP wants to test when she's a few days late, there's no harm, as long as she realizes that it may be too early to test, and that she could still be pregnant. If the result is positive, then it's unlikely that it's a false positive. False positives are very rare. False negatives however, they happen all the time.
There are reasons for finding out as early as possible whether you're pregnant. If this is an unwanted pregnancy, it leaves more options open. If this pregnancy is wanted, the sooner prenatal care is started, the better off the fetus will be.
A blood test, in my opinion, is still the best option. A blood test is far more accurate than a urine test. Most times the urine test produces a false negative because of human error. With a blood test, it's done in a doctors office, and there's very little room for error. Having said that, if you do a blood test too soon, it can also produce a false negative.
The best advice I can offer to anyone that thinks she's pregnant, is to treat yourself like you are pregnant until you find out for sure that you're not. Start taking prenatal vitamins, stop drinking and smoking, eat healthy.

Good news and bad news. As we said no form of birth control is 100%. Your mom putting you on a pill indicates you will go on having sex. I would have hoped this scare would get you to wait until you are old enough.Quote:
