I want shared custody of my girls
I am a police officer working a 10 day rolling shift, 2 earliest, 2 lates, 2 nights then 4 rest days!
I am wanting to see my 2 daughters on my 4 rest days as I can then have them without any interruptions!
My wife (now separated) is not letting me see then even 1 of those rest days but instead calling me in Friday evening saying collect the children!
I had work at 6am Saturday morning so this was impossible!

Where do I stand as she said at the begginging that I was allowed the girls on my rest days but not now??

Forget what she says. Have you gone to court to establish a parenting plan or visitation schedule? Until you do, you are at the mercy of her whims.

If the mother is giving you a hard time over visitation then your ONLY choice is to go to court.

Can I take her to court without a solicitor? If so do you know how?

I'm not familiar enough with UK law to answer. I would consult with a solicitor at least initially. As a police officer you should have no trouble finding one.
