    Hampton bay ceiling fans
    I can't get my remote to work for my Hampton Bay Ceiling fan. Is there a website I can go to to get the user manual for it? The grandkids were playing with it and now it won't work.:confused:

    I'm assuming you've checked the batteries are in properly.

    I can only assume the frequency has been changed. There are some little switches inside. (they are called dip switches). These are used to set the frequency of the signal used to "talk" to the fan. Somewhere in the fan, there are similar switches. But, if you don't want to remove the cover plates from the fan, you can take a few minutes to try all the combinations of the switches...

    First, look at the switches, and write down how they are set before you start, in the event there is something else wrong, you can set them back to what they were before you started "fiddling" with them.

    I don't know how many switches you have, but here's the possible combinations for 3 and 4 switches: (1 is on, 0 is off -or- 1 is "up" and 0 is "down").

    3 switches:
    000
    001
    010
    011
    100
    101
    110
    111

    4 switches:
    0000
    0001
    0010
    0011
    0100
    0101
    0110
    0111
    1000
    1001
    1010
    1011
    1100
    1101
    1110
    1111

    Thank you so much for the above grid. I purchased 2 Hampton Bay fans which are identical. Had both units up and THEN figured out they had to be "coded". This is nuts and both me and a Mr. Fix-It friend have worked HOURS trying to get the remotes to "talk" to the fans. The lights work great (dimmer and all) but the fan itself doesn't respond to the remote. I will try all the above codes before I give up and get a less complicated model.
