    Child Abandonment.
What events need to happen in order for me to file child abandonment charges? I live in the Chicago Illinois area.

The other parent leaves child at walmart or some store and drives off. They leave child alone at home and does not come back.

You may use abandonment as a reason to file for other civil issues , like a change in custody, a change in visitation if they don't visit or pay support.

What do you expect doing so to get you? Abandonment is a criminal charge that refers to leaving a child without any adult supervision? Is that what happened? If it did then you report it to the police. If not, then you don't file abandonment charges.

What is it you really want?
