Hi My father was born in 1959 and we do have his birth certificate in portuguese and then my dad got married in the year 1983 that also we have the marriage certificate in portuguese... also we have our grand parents birth and marriage certificate in portuguese but unfortunately they are not in this world so I just wanted to know whether It is possible for my dad to appy for a BI?

Whatever documents we have in portuguese will have to be registed in portugal?
How long will it take?
If my dad and mom doesn't want a portuguese passport but if we are interested how to go about?
How to start the process ?

You don't and can't get a Portuguese passport until you become a Portuguese citizen. And that applies to passports of every other country on Earth as well.

I think your chances are remote... but the best way to find out is to contact the Portuguese embasy in the country you reside in now. Eligibility requirements change all the time... they will know the current ones.
