I have been on Methadone for 2 yrs. And have been weaning off it for l7 months. I am now at 26 mg. I am decreased (per my own decision) at 1mg a week. I had a bad cold over the week. End. I went to store and picked up box of Nyquil PILLS. Read box CAREFULLY. Nowhere on box does it say there is alcohol in the PILLS. I am aware, as is everyone, that it is in Nyquil Syrpe. I thought perhaps it was a new formulation. So I took 2 Sun at 11:30 pm and found out Monday when a friend looked it up online that it too has alcohol in it. I did not take any more. Tues at noon I got a urinalysis at Meth. Clinic. Now I am VERY CONCERNED that they may find it. Will the alcohol in 2 Nyquil liqui-caps show up, approx 36 hrs. after I took them? I never have relapsed in 2 yrs. And I am an idiot for not checking more carefully. I will be waiting till 3 weeks though to find out if I passed or failed it, HELP ease my mind - if you can!

Regardless of the type alcohol test performed, EtOH or EtG/EtS there will be nothing in your system at 36 hours from 2 pills.

If you have time I'd like to know the exact name as shown on the box.

NyQuil Cold & Flu Nighttime Relief - (Active Ingredients are: Acetaminophen, Doxlamine, Dextromethorphan.) I am looking at the box right now and (the Inactive ingredients are: D&C Yellow No. 10, FC&C Blue No.1, gelatin, glycerin, polyethylene glycol, povidone, propylene glycol, purified water, sorbitol special, titanium dioxide.

I went to store after I posted the question to get a few other items and I even looked at where info was regarding alcohol content on a "bottle" of Nyquil Vicks syrpe. Its right at the bottom right hand corner of label on the front part of bottle in big enough letters that it would be extremely hard to miss. It reads "Alcohol 10%". I knew enough to avoid that but my stupidity about Nyquil pills would probably not be believed by my counselor when alcoholics and addicts have a history of lies. And I was a liar too. I'm sure she would believe I had gotten drunk.

I just again examined this box of Nyquil and there is no mention of Alcohol. IT IS NOT ANYWHERE ON THERE. However, as a recovering addict - I do take responsibility for my recovery and I should have 1st of all realized "liqu-caps" was probably my first clue. But also I should have checked it out more BEFORE I TOOK THEM. I will not repeat my mistake. I hope for those who sincerely are trying to stay clean & sober can learn from my mistake that OTC meds can cause us to fail our drug tests also. Dr. Bill - I thank you though that your answer eased my mind as I was not trying too get drunk or high, I just was so sick I wasn't as careful as I should have been in choosing over the counter medications. I'm so glad that this was brought to my attn before I took anymore. Nyquil only discloses the alcohol in the pills on their website but not on the box. PS (I am better now - Cold Eeze work great!) THANK YOU again.

I'm on methadone and have a urine test in almost 5 days will I be good by then if I took it tn please help need to sleep
