Treasure Hunting Kids Movie
When I was in Middle School; there was this fantastic 90's movie that I used to get all the time when I could. The main things that I remember are: Two kids (I think teenagers) find/steal a map from a trio of criminals, two of which are rather idiotic, that leads them to a lost treasure buried in their town's history. Meanwhile it the town is excitedly getting prepped up for it's Bicentennial.
It's a race between the two kids and the criminals to find the lost treasure. The discover the clues; and that the treasure (if I remember correctly) was in the hidden in the caves underneath where the Town Light House was built.
When they are under the caves, of what little I remember, the two kids take thirteen steps and find the X spot where the chest has been buried inside the wall of the cave they were in.
When they dig out the chest and bring it to the surface they open the chest and discover that the gold inside is actually three or five gold bells that belong to the Light House keeper who helped them find the treasure in the first place, and the criminals are arrested and everyone lives happily ever after.
